Alto - Funeral services for Helen Weightman Sharpe, 77, of Alto will be Thursday, June 2nd, at 11 am at the First Baptist Church in Alto with Rev. Gary Pridmore officiating. Mrs. Sharpe passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord, Saturday May the 28th, in Alto, surrounded by her family. She was born February 11, 1939 in an area of Texas referred to as "No Man's Land" to Leslie P. Weightman and Myrtle Belle Ballard Weightman. She was named after her mother, and her father gave his prize horse to the Dr. as payment for his services. She was the 3rd of 5 children and met her husband, Wayne, in 1955 in Dumas, Texas. They were married November 16, 1956 and moved to Greenville, Alabama where she graduated from Greenville High School in 1957. Helen's special interest and hobbies included raising her family, crocheting, collecting cookie jars and antiques, gardening and making candies, cookies and cakes for her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband of 55 years Gerald Wayne Sharpe, sisters Beverly McClure and Virginia Jordan, brother Richard Weightman and son-in-law Richard McLendon. Left to honor and remember Helen are daughter Tabby "Baby Girl" McLendon of Baytown , son Wayne "Sonshine" Sharpe Jr. and wife Nan "Nanner" of Pasadena, daughter Cindy "Lulu" Sharpe and her fiancé Don "Instigator" Spies of Houston, sister Arlene Stephens of Dumas, grandchildren Michael McLendon, Billy McLendon (Nikki), Heather McLendon, Jacob Guerra (Kim) and Garreth Marchuk and great grandchildren Tyson Guerra, Cadence Guerra, Brayden Guerra, Neil Baltikowski, TJ McLendon and Ellie McLendon, sister-in-law Keva "Little Sis" Weightman and brother-in-law Harroll Straley as well as many nieces and nephews and her beloved church family. We know mother is on Cloud 9 because that is where Daddy said he would wait for her. Visitation is scheduled Wednesday from 6-8pm at the funeral home in Alto
