Effie Mae (Newton) Rogers

Graveside Services for Effie Mae Rogers will be Wednesday July 20th at 10am at McKnight Cemetery. No visitation is scheduled. 

Effie Mae Rogers, 81, of Cushing, Texas died Friday July 15th, 2022 in Lufkin, Texas. She was born December 16th, 1940 in Dallas, Texas to James and Gladys Penner Newton.  Effie grew up in Dallas and completed the 9th grade. She was married in Marshall, Texas to James Rogers in 1979. She loved gardening and cooking, road trips and casinos. Her family affectionately called her “Mama”. She was involved with and helped create the Sacul Community Center.

She is preceded in death by her Parents, and Husband James. As well as a Grandson Mark Rider

She is survived by her Sons and Daughters-in-law Cecil and Cindy Petty of Sacul, Tx, Jimmy and Cheryl Petty of Gilmer, Tx, Randy and Marilyn Petty of Gilmer, Tx, and Terry and Charlotte Petty of Gilmer, Tx; Sister Maggie Hill of Dallas, Tx; 14 Grandchildren; and 11 Great Grandchildren.
