Imogene Williams Obituary

Graveside services for Imogene D. Williams, 92, of Cushing, will be at 1:00 pm Monday, October 31, 2022 at McKnight Cemetery in Cushing. Imogene passed away Friday, October 28, 2022 at Nacogdoches Medical Center. Imogene was born in Nacogdoches County to Eugene Alonzo Dempsey and Nolie Matlock Dempsey on May 2, 1930.

Imogene and her family survived “The Great Depression” era. She often talked about the struggles that were complicated and were never the “Good Old Days.” She remembered the family having to move often to sawmill towns for work. Imogene married her husband Melton “Snow” Williams at the age of 17. They were blessed with three daughters (Regina Ann, Linda Marie, and Nancy Kay). Their Cushing home was the one that Imogene’s brothers, sisters, and family members came to visit. She had a sharp mind and remembered a lifetime of family history. They came to hear her stories and to eat her home-cooked meals. Her life was a blessing, and her memories are now treasures.

Imogene is preceded in death by her cherished grandmother Nancy Ida Dempsey, parents Eugene and Nolie Dempsey, husband Melton “Snow” Williams, son-in-law Winfred “Wimp” Ware, brother Jack Allen Dempsey, brother Phillip Marion and wife Brigetta Dempsey, sister Hazel Faye and husband Billy Frank Davis, sister Ida Catherine and husband Albert Potter, sister Odessa Cleo and husband Roy Westmoreland, and sister-in-law Carolyn Dempsey

Imogene is survived by her daughter Regina Ann Ware, daughter Linda Marie Short, granddaughter Victoria Renee Short, granddaughter Deidra Kay and husband Michael Rimsky, great grandchildren Reagan Rose, Hunter, Alivia, and Gracelynn Rimsky, brother James Mack Dempsey, sister-in-law Betty Dempsey. Imogene is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved and mentioned often.

We will forever miss her.

John 11:25-26

Jesus said unto her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believed in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?”
